Plastics . . . Part of our Lives, but a Problem if Not Used Properly.
High Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) Plastics are an integral part of products across all industry segments. But virgin plastics resins have some significant drawbacks:

If not re-used, they stay in landfills forever
-
Manufacturing relies on petrochemical sources from foreign countries, because the U.S. cannot produce enough oil internally

Plastic can be used for energy. HDPE is derived from Natural Gas, as such has little to no toxins as part of it composition. Because of this, it actually provides a higher BTU output than wood, making it desirable as a fuel source, but it is still more economical to use as a solid material.
